Toronto Revellers Announce 2015 Carnival Theme

December 2014) - The Toronto Revellers masquerade band, participants in the annual Scotiabank Caribbean Carnival festivities in Toronto, has just announced the theme for their 2015 carnival costumes and events. "TORCH: The Spirit of the Games" will interpret the elements of the international sports community, the emotions, and celebrations! The children's band will present "The Games" with costumes reflecting the various events.

TORCH: The Spirit of the Games will coincide with the anticipated Pan/Parapan American Games taking place in Toronto during the heart of carnival season, July and August of 2015. Toronto Revellers Bandleader Jamaal Magloire is an official ambassador of the PanAm Games, in addition to his current role with the NBA's Toronto Raptors as their Basketball Development Consultant & Community Ambassador.

"This is an important year for Toronto, as we welcome athletes and their supporters, dignitaries, and the international sports community to our city," said Magloire. "We want to take the energy of the games, combined with our love for carnival, and depict the spirit of the games through our costumes and events in 2015."

Magloire's carnival masquerade band-two-time winners of the "Band of the Year" title-will compete in the city's largest annual parade for their 9th season, under his leadership. Magloire oversees the Revellers team as they construct their costumes and float presentations, as well as organize a full season of events and activities for the community.

"This is a great opportunity for me and the Toronto Revellers to help cultivate community spirit, patriotism, and to encourage physical activity," said Magloire. "We get to celebrate our Caribbean heritage, along with recognizing Canada's role in this year's Games, and all of the positive things that take will place in the community as a result."

Beginning in April, the Toronto Revellers will prove a full season of activities leading up to the Grand Parade day, Saturday, August 1. For more information, please visit
